JD: a public posting on Oracle's careers site.

I mass-applied. Got a recruiter call the very next day, a phone screen a week later, and the onsite another week after that.

I interviewed over two days, Wednesday and Thursday. Got told today that I failed, and they won't give any feedback.

After talking with them, it felt like there are a lot of openings and they're actively hiring.

Phone screen: covered in a separate post.

VO:

1st coding

def replace(list1, list2, i, j):
    # list1 and list2 are linked lists. replace node i through node j in list1 with list2

The interviewer gave test cases, and I needed to run the code.

Standard BQ.

2nd coding

Similar to LeetCode's Design Authentication Manager, a cache with TTL.

I had to write my own test cases.

Standard BQ.

3rd round

This one was with a Director. It was supposed to be a 60-min SD, but they didn't ask any at all. Just asked a few BQs, and it was over in under 45 min. The interviewer seemed really busy.

4th round

Bartender, with an interviewer from a different team. Low level design, which is really just OOD.

class Logger:
    def __init__(self, list of handlers):
    def log(self, message):
        # message should go through all handlers

class TruncateHandler:

class StoreHandler:
    # save the message into an internal list instead of printing

# tests
logger = Logger([TruncateHandler(), StoreHandler()])
logger.log('abc')

Didn't require running the code.

Standard BQ.

None of the questions were really hard; they should all be doable. I don't know why I failed, maybe just not a great match. I don't have really low-level infra experience, like networking, virtual machines, etc.

The interview content didn't match what the recruiter told me. For example, the third round was supposed to have SD, and nobody said the fourth round would be LLD. Everyone, be prepared.

Counting the shadow, I met 6 people in total, and one of them had only just joined recently.
