IMC Launchpad 2027: Eligibility, Online Assessment, and Interview Timeline
IMC Launchpad 2027: compare regional eligibility, understand the available online assessment evidence, and track interview and internship milestones.
Checked September 7, 2026. IMC Launchpad is an early-career discovery program, but “Launchpad 2027” does not identify one global application cycle. Your eligibility depends on the regional listing, academic stage, and intended internship year. Online assessments and interviews also vary by stream. No official source reviewed establishes a single worldwide 2027 opening date, test format, or interview timetable.
This guide is for students deciding whether to apply, interpreting an assessment invitation, or waiting for an interview. It separates current regional facts from 2026 candidate reports and preparation advice.
First identify which Launchpad you mean
A discovery event, a summer internship, and a graduate position are different applications. The number “2027” might refer to when you attend Launchpad, when a later internship begins, or a search term used by other applicants. Record the actual requisition title and location before comparing experiences.
The following is a snapshot of official regional pages, not a confirmed worldwide 2027 calendar:
| Region and official source | Eligibility described on the page | Timing distinction |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Second-year university students with quantitative or computer-science-related backgrounds, interested in software engineering or quantitative trading | A two-day Chicago discovery program; the reviewed page does not provide a dated 2027 application window |
| Europe | Pre-penultimate-year students at European universities studying a relevant subject, such as computer science, mathematics, econometrics, or engineering | A two-day program; no universal 2027 deadline was confirmed on the reviewed page |
| Asia Pacific | Australian or New Zealand university students graduating in 2028/29, with Australian working rights; a High Distinction average or equivalent is preferred | The page advertises an October program, June–July 2026 applications, and a potential 2027/28 summer internship pathway |
| India | Students eligible and available for a summer internship in 2027, from specified institutions and eligible degree programs | A two-day discovery program; eligibility for a 2027 internship does not itself mean the event takes place in 2027 |
For Sydney, the published July 2026 closing month has passed as of this check. A surviving “Apply now” button is not proof that the same Launchpad intake remains open. Confirm that it leads to the correct active requisition before submitting anything.
For Europe, pre-penultimate means the year before your penultimate year. That often corresponds to first year in a three-year degree or second year in a four-year degree, but use the employer's explicit graduation window when supplied. Transfer credits, an integrated master's, or an accelerated degree can make the campus label misleading.
Eligibility: match the region, degree, and three dates
Use three separate fields: event year, graduation year, and internship year. Keeping them separate prevents the most consequential Launchpad mistake: preparing for a cohort you cannot actually join.
In India, the official page names IIT Bombay, Madras, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee and Guwahati; BITS Pilani; ISI Kolkata; CMI; and IISc Bengaluru. Its trading degree list is broader than its software-engineering list. Engineering eligibility includes institution-specific restrictions on degree and discipline, so “I study at a listed institution” is only the first check. Read your exact degree entry, including whether it is undergraduate, postgraduate, CSE, EE, or a specified mathematics-and-CS combination.
For Sydney, the official page separates Trading & Quant Research from Engineering. It lists quantitative subjects for the first stream and computing or engineering subjects for the second. The engineering stream names Python, C++, or Java fundamentals. These are regional criteria; do not apply them automatically to Chicago or Europe.
Here is a hypothetical eligibility check, not an admissions decision. A student finishing a four-year degree in 2029 sees a discovery event advertised in 2026 with a 2027/28 internship pathway. The student should compare their graduation year and university location with that listing, then verify working rights and degree requirements. Searching only for an event titled “2027” could hide the relevant opportunity.
Before applying, save the job ID, program location, stream, graduation window, event dates, application deadline, and any travel or working-rights conditions. If one condition is unclear, send the campus recruiter your actual degree length, current year, expected graduation date, and the exact listing. Ask whether that combination qualifies. Do not change your graduation date to fit an application dropdown.
What is known about the online assessment?
Official baseline: IMC's recruitment-process page describes application, assessment, interview, and offer stages. It says many positions involve an aptitude assessment and some involve technical assignments. This is general recruitment guidance, not a Launchpad-specific guarantee of four identical stages everywhere.
Candidate evidence: a March 2026 Launchpad discussion includes a Tech/SWE applicant who completed an OA on February 26. The applicant described four coding questions with uneven difficulty. Other commenters discussed trading aptitude or work-style tests, identity verification, and differing interview-invitation dates. The thread mixes streams and does not consistently establish location, so its details cannot be combined into one standard test.
Separately, Arnav Singh's account of Mumbai Launchpad 2026 reports one OA followed by three interviews for his technology cohort. This supports the existence of a multi-stage selection process for that participant. It does not prove the same number of rounds for another region or a future intake.
These are two independent 2026 sources, not two matching 2027 reports for one office and stream. Consequently, this guide does not assign a universal provider, duration, question count, passing score, or round sequence to Launchpad 2027.
Read the invitation before choosing your practice
For a coding invitation, confirm the allowed languages, editor, time limit, question navigation, and submission rules. Prepare to translate a story into inputs, constraints, and a correct algorithm. For an aptitude invitation, use the provider's supplied examples to learn its question mechanics. Pattern reasoning, numerical interpretation, and programming measure different things; a friend's coding preparation may not match your invitation.
IMC's general guidance recommends reading the instructions and using the supplied practice questions. Permissions stated for a home assignment should not be transferred to a timed OA. Use only the tools and references explicitly permitted for your assessment, and request an accommodation or technical clarification before starting when needed.
Prepare for the interview your stream suggests
The exercises below are preparation recommendations, not reported Launchpad 2027 questions. Their purpose is to make your reasoning visible when a problem changes.
For engineering, rehearse a small coding task in five steps: clarify the contract, demonstrate a simple example, choose a data structure, implement, and test. Explain time and space complexity with the actual input size. If you propose a hash map, describe the lookup it replaces. If you propose sorting, explain how order makes the next step easier. Avoid naming an advanced technique before you can justify it.
A useful self-designed exercise is a timestamped event counter: return how many events fall in a rolling window. First specify whether events arrive in order and whether the boundary is inclusive. Then compare rescanning all events with maintaining a queue. Finally, introduce an out-of-order event and explain which assumption breaks. This gives an early-career candidate a concrete way to discuss correctness and efficiency without pretending to design an entire trading platform.
For trading or quantitative preparation, practise defining a sample space and updating a conclusion when information changes. Start with a fair six-sided die paying its face value: the expected payout is 3.5. If a fee is charged to play, expected net payoff is 3.5 minus the fee. If the die is biased, that average no longer follows without the probabilities. Explain the distinction between positive expectation and a guaranteed gain on one play.
For communication, prepare an honest example of learning from feedback. State the original decision, what evidence challenged it, what you changed, and what remained uncertain. A workshop is collaborative: being able to explain an unfinished idea and improve it after a question is useful preparation, even though no public source here establishes a formal scoring rubric for that behavior.
Five IMC practice questions to use selectively
Start with explanation and correctness; treat the harder probability problem as an extension.
| Question | Best use in your preparation |
|---|---|
| Find k-th recipient in command propagation order | Engineering: explain traversal order, indexing, and how a tree representation affects implementation |
| Analyze time complexity and threading trade-offs | Engineering: practise concise reasoning about runtime and when concurrency adds complexity |
| Compute the Probability for Two Uniform Variables | Quantitative extension: draw the sample space before calculating; do not begin here if basic probability is unfamiliar |
| Explain a project to non-technical stakeholders | Both streams: explain the purpose and your contribution without relying on specialist vocabulary |
| Handling Difficult Feedback | Both streams: rehearse listening, checking evidence, and responding constructively |
Choose two questions relevant to your stream. Attempt them before opening an explanation, then record one mistaken assumption and one improvement. This is more useful than memorizing all five solutions and treating them as a predicted test.
Application and interview timeline: track milestones, not rumors
There is no confirmed global 2027 Launchpad response schedule in the reviewed evidence. Separate the employer's dated commitments from your own preparation milestones.
| Milestone | What establishes it | Your next action |
|---|---|---|
| Correct intake found | Active regional requisition with matching eligibility | Save the listing and submit accurate documents |
| Assessment invited | Email or candidate-portal invitation | Record the deadline and time zone; read all test instructions |
| Assessment completed | Submission confirmation | Save the confirmation and continue interview preparation |
| Interview scheduled | Recruiter or scheduling confirmation | Check whether the session is motivation, technical, or mixed |
| Event place offered | Written invitation with event details | Confirm attendance and clarify travel arrangements before booking |
| Internship progression | Separate written instruction or offer | Follow that process; do not infer an internship offer from event attendance |
The February and March 2026 reports show that applicants could be at different stages simultaneously. They do not provide a reliable average turnaround. Silence after an OA does not tell you whether your score passed, whether reviews are batched, or whether a recruiter has finished reviewing the cohort.
If a stated response date passes, send a short follow-up. For example: “I completed the Launchpad Engineering assessment on [date] for [office/job ID]. Could you confirm whether any action is required from me and whether there is an updated timeline?” Include a competing deadline if you actually have one. Avoid repeated daily messages or claims that someone else's invitation means yours is overdue.
What does the internship fast track actually mean?
The US and Europe program pages describe faster progression toward internships. Sydney's page goes further, describing potential 2027/28 internship offers for standout participants. The wording is conditional and regional. It does not promise every attendee an offer, the same skipped stage, or identical treatment across offices.
For planning, keep three outcomes separate: admission to Launchpad, successful participation, and an internship decision. When offered a place, ask what happens afterward and whether a separate internship application is required. Keep other applications moving until you receive a written outcome you can act on.
Your next step is therefore concrete: identify the correct regional intake, verify the three dates, and prepare for the stream named in your invitation. That approach remains useful even when an old program page or candidate report uses a different year.
